Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to provide Engineering Information Management (EIM). This is a 1-year contract opportunity to work with them in Calgary.
Responsibilities:
- Compare uncontrolled document sources (R: network drive, Iron Mountain hard copies) against the McLaren Document System to identify missing critical documents.
- Collaborate with Reliability and Static Engineering teams to review legacy project documents and audit turnover of new project documents.
- Utilize Offshore Drafting Services for document comparisons, tag scrapes, and load sheet creation to manage workload efficiently.
- Work with Document Control (DC) to upload verified documents into McLaren with proper metadata (Title Block details, tags, etc.).
- Request as-built drafting of redlined drawings from EIM Drafting as needed.
- Remove duplicated or obsolete documents from uncontrolled network drives to ensure a single source of truth.
- Provide training (group or 1:1) to the Reliability team to ensure proper use of the portal for daily tasks.
- Conduct regular reviews of the portal and provide recommendations for future enhancements.
Requirements:
- Understanding of Technical and Vendor Documentation lifecycle from Design, Issued for Construction, Redlines, QA/QC, and as-building final Document Deliverables to go into the McLaren Document Management System (Docs available to Site Users). This includes creation of the Project Document/Drawing List at the start of a Project to include all related documents (for all Disciplines impacted), and Authentication requirements
- Understanding of the ENGWO/MOC process workflow and integration with Maximo
- Detail-focused, investigative personality. Require creativity and perseverance to make connections when looking through various sources of information, including network drives, and Iron Mountain storage (hard-copy documents)
- Will work closely with other Discipline Engineering Focals on the EIM team as most projects have multi-discipline documents
- Good communicator, must be able to work with multiple departments and stakeholders, including Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Document Control
- Competent in Excel to audit and compare datasets. Competency in Access or other Database experience is an asset
- Ability to learn new software and to provide DEMOs (ie. McLaren, Smart Review, TruView)
- APEGA Professional Engineer (Mechanical) with 10-15 years of experience. Preferred to have experience working with Owner Project teams and EPC teams for reviewing Legacy Projects. Oilsands and Field experience an asset
