Job Description: Mechanical Engineer - Franklin, KY

$100,000 Annually


Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for executing capital projects and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a robust understanding of engineering principles, project management, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive efficiency, safety, and quality improvements within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

Execute Capital Projects:

  1. Generate project ideas based on business needs and opportunities
  2. Estimate project costs and justify by demonstrating benefits to secure funding approval
  3. Complete engineering designs and planning
  4. Specify, purchase, and design/build specialized equipment as needed
  5. Manage resources to ensure successful project installation and startup
  6. Provide training to maintenance operations as required


Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP):

  1. Identify and lead CIP to improve safety, reduce costs, enhance productivity, and diminish waste
  2. Improve product quality and resolve recurring quality complaints
  3. Enhance equipment reliability


Leadership and Technical Expertise:

  1. Provide technical expertise and assume leadership in tackling the most challenging problems
  2. Assist production and maintenance teams in resolving complex technical issues


Support Quality and Manufacturing:

  1. Support Quality department in root cause analysis of complaints
  2. Support manufacturing improvements through project management and engineering expertise


Innovation and Improvement:

  1. Generate ideas and solutions for specific issues and plant improvement opportunities
  2. Investigate new processes, equipment, and methods to gain competitive advantages
  3. Continuously develop and improve process knowledge and continuous improvement skills


Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  2. 10+ years of engineering experience with significant project engineering experience
  3. Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills
  4. Exceptional technical problem-solving skills
  5. Proficiency in AutoCAD
  6. Experience and understanding of process systems, metrics, Continuous Improvement Projects, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  7. Six Sigma training preferred


The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to lead complex projects and drive continuous improvements within manufacturing environments.
