Job Description:

Job Purpose

The Mechanical Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing production equipment, process flow, and people to find solutions for quality issues, capability issues, machine downtime, and throughput concerns. Responsible for coming up with corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for championing the Six Sigma methodology and statistical tools for identifying root causes of variations and defects; and is key to implementing solutions to continuously improve safety, efficiency, and productivity as it relates to manufacturing equipment.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Identifying and analyzing equipment problems or deficiencies and developing solutions to resolve them.
  • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Installing equipment.
  • Writing Pos
  • Running off new equipment, ensuring contracted requirements are met
  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Responding to breakdowns.
  • Researching and implementing opportunities to make processes more efficient.
  • Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Time studies
  • Improving manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Collaborating with other team members to qualify manufacturing equipment.
  • Fully documenting designs, specifications, validations, and qualifications per established procedures and standards.
  • Establishing and managing multiple concurrent project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure delivery commitments.
  • Works to improve the safety, efficiency, productivity, and quality of the manufacturing process.
  • Analyzes production data for improvement.
  • Ensures quality control.
  • Locates problems with machinery and develops effective solutions.
  • Ensure mechanical systems work safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct experiments methodically, analyze data and interpret results.
  • Evaluate equipment's overall performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
  • Solicit observations from operators and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate and write technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.

Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: 7+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Courses/Certifications/Training: Excellent writing, verbal, interpersonal and time management skills, strong attention to detail
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification
  • Ability to display strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to drive outcomes. Driven, self-starter, resourceful and able to work with minimal direction.
