Must Have's

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 6+ years of direct electrical design experience (15+ years for senior-level consideration).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Strong technical competency in power distribution and standby power generating systems.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Water/wastewater consulting experience.
  • Proficiency with power system modeling software (such as SKM PowerTools or EasyPower).

A leading Water Design Center is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Mid to Senior-Level) to support and lead a variety of electrical design tasks for water and wastewater projects across South Carolina and beyond. This role offers the opportunity to be hands-on with high-volume, custom plant projects, collaborate directly with clients to solve electrical challenges, mentor junior team members, manage projects, and contribute to business development initiatives.


What You'll Do:

This role focuses on electrical support for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing detailed designs for electrical power distribution, standby power generation, motor control, and lighting systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Preparing one-line diagrams, power plans, grounding and lightning protection plans, and lighting layouts for industrial facilities.
  • Collaborating closely with instrumentation and control engineers, mechanical, structural, and civil teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Coordinating with electrical equipment vendors for system designs and specifications.
  • Performing design calculations, construction cost estimating, regulatory coordination, and quality assurance.
  • Managing project schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring quality deliverables that align with internal standards.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Developing technical details and specifications.
  • Performing power system studies, including short circuit analysis, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Supporting electrical assessments and providing onsite advisement for clients.
  • Leading initiatives to develop and standardize electrical design tools and processes.
  • Providing mentorship and training to junior engineering staff.

Some travel may be required for field assessments, site evaluations, and construction phase support.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience developing electrical designs, detailed plans, and specifications for industrial facilities.
  • Field experience resolving technical electrical issues.
  • Understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant systems from a plant-wide perspective.
  • Experience with power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash analysis).
  • Proficiency in low and medium voltage power distribution design.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.


Preferred Skills:

  • Water/wastewater consulting experience.
  • Proficiency with power system modeling software (such as SKM PowerTools or EasyPower).
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit for design documentation.
  • Experience with instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA design integration.
  • Active participation in professional engineering organizations.
