Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our engineering consulting client's office in Kansas City, MO. This engineer will balance technical design, project leadership, and client interactions. They'll spend time developing power generation system designs, optimizing heat and mass balances, and specifying critical equipment for ongoing projects. Regular meetings with structural and electrical engineering teams ensure alignment on project requirements, while reviewing vendor submittals guarantees equipment compliance. Some days will involve on-site visits to construction locations for inspections and troubleshooting. The engineer will also contribute to business development, preparing technical reports, proposals, and fee estimates for new projects. Throughout the month, they'll conduct energy audits, support project scheduling and staffing, and engage in client consultations to refine system efficiency and ensure project success. Each day brings a mix of deep technical work, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and strategic planning to drive results.
Responsibilities:
Power Generation System Design & Optimization
- Develop medium voltage power generation systems for gas generator packages, ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct heat and mass balance analysis using Thermoflex and proprietary software to assess system performance.
- Design plant layouts and equipment arrangements to maximize operational effectiveness.
Equipment Specification & Engineering
- Size, select, and produce specifications for critical power generation equipment, including combustion turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, emissions control systems, and compressors.
- Review and approve vendor submittals to ensure compliance with engineering and performance requirements.
Interdisciplinary Coordination & Project Leadership
- Collaborate closely with structural and electrical engineering teams to maintain seamless project integration.
- Manage project schedules, staffing projections, and budget constraints to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
Technical Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct energy and power quality audits to identify optimization opportunities and assess system performance.
- Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies
