Senior Mechanical Engineer
Full-Time, Exempt

A well-established engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its corporate engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full product lifecycle-from initial concept and design through manufacturing, packaging, and final delivery. The position supports a variety of product lines, including the development of new technologies.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a collaborative team that values innovation, precision, and continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative mechanical designs to meet performance and cost objectives
- Conduct reverse engineering and competitive product analysis to support product requirements
- Assist production teams by translating design specifications and resolving technical issues
- Collaborate with quality teams to investigate non-conformances and improve inspection processes
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for both internal and external issues
- Design fixtures for assembly and machining processes
- Build and implement test equipment into production workflows
- Partner with sales and product teams to evaluate and define custom product solutions
- Create detailed part and assembly drawings, along with supporting documentation
- Effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and evolving work environment
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
Qualifications and Experience (Required):
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design and development
- Expertise in designing for manufacturability using materials such as tool steels, aluminum, polymers, composites, and alloy steels
- Experience with sheet metal, castings, plastic molding, and extrusion design processes
- Familiarity with heat treatment specifications
- Proficiency in gear design, including planetary gear systems
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Practical manufacturing experience, including machining, assembly, and fixture design
- Proficient in ASME Y14.5-2009 drawing standards
- Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies
- CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience working in ISO-compliant design control environments
- Competency in quality inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced gear design knowledge
- Background in rotary or turbine tool development
- Experience with pneumatic system design
- SolidWorks with Product Data Management (PDM)
