Job Description:

Now Hiring: Senior Mechanical Engineer - MEP / Facilities

Location: Orlando, Florida

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000, depending on experience

I'm currently partnering with a highly respected engineering and planning firm in Orlando to find an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer who's ready to step into a visible leadership role on some of the region's most impactful projects.

If you're passionate about high-performance HVAC and MEP design and looking for an opportunity to work on meaningful facilities-airports, schools, government buildings, and large-scale commercial developments-this could be a great fit.

This firm is known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and getting things done right the first time. With more than 130 professionals across disciplines, they've been delivering thoughtful, sustainable, and technically sound engineering solutions since 1988.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • You'll be leading mechanical design for major public and commercial facilities that serve communities every day.
  • You'll work in a collaborative environment with architects, engineers, and clients-where your voice and expertise will be heard.
  • You'll have the opportunity to mentor junior staff, contribute to strategic planning, and grow into a key leadership role.
  • This is not a cookie-cutter job-each project is different, challenging, and high impact.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the Orlando-based MEP team, your focus will be on designing and leading projects from concept through construction. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, and government facilities
  • Leading system layout and equipment selection for chilled water, DX, ductwork, piping, and controls
  • Preparing technical specs, estimates, and construction documents
  • Conducting field investigations and providing practical, code-compliant solutions
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and deliver well-coordinated designs
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to internal team development
  • Participating in QA/QC reviews and design quality management
  • Supporting strategic marketing efforts and proposal development
  • Occasionally contributing to plumbing and fire protection design (a plus, not required)

What the Ideal Candidate Brings

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in HVAC/MEP design
  • PE license (or the ability to obtain Florida licensure within 6 months)
  • Expertise in chilled water and DX systems, load calculations, and energy-efficient solutions
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit preferred)
  • Solid understanding of equipment selection and system integration
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Extras

  • Experience with aviation, K-12 or higher education, or government buildings
  • Familiarity with plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Knowledge of LEED, energy modeling, or sustainable design practices
  • Multi-state licensure or interest in pursuing it
  • Supervisory or project management experience

Additional Details

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may arise depending on project needs

If you're looking for a role where your technical knowledge, leadership, and creativity are genuinely valued-and where you can leave a lasting mark on the built environment-let's talk.
