Now Hiring: Controls Design Engineer (Engineer III)

Location: On-site Full-Time

Sunnen Products Company is seeking a skilled Controls Design Engineer to develop and support complex control systems for custom industrial machinery. This role focuses heavily on embedded C programming for motion control and real-time applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage machine control projects from concept to delivery (on time & on budget)
  • Design electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems
  • Write embedded C code for industrial PCs and hardware interfacing
  • Specify and size servo motors and VFDs
  • Design and debug electrical control panels
  • Support integration, troubleshooting, and testing of control systems
  • Ensure systems meet NFPA 79, CE, and other applicable standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 7-10 years of experience in control systems or embedded engineering
  • Strong embedded C and C++ programming skills, especially for real-time applications
  • Experience working close to hardware (servo systems, sensors, I/O, etc.)
  • Familiar with 2D CAD for wiring diagrams and electrical design
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols and system integration
  • Knowledge of ERP, CRM, and CAD/CAM software systems is a plus
