GN2 has considerable experience with tailings systems, on-pond assets, pipelines, civil, mechanical, and structural design, plant piping networks, pressure vessels, process skids and dewatering systems.


As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (4-12 years), you will have the opportunity to work full-cycle from idea base to implementation, while being supported by a fast-paced group of forward-thinking experts.


As the Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will report to the Project Lead. You will oversee the project life cycle from preliminary design through to project turnover.


This position is based in our Edmonton office with opportunities to participate in sight visits.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all engineering activities including design integrity, meeting all regulatory code, standards, and customer specification requirements.
  • Review scope documents to ensure all aspects of the design requirements and the scope of the projects are properly captured in the execution plans.
  • Prepare project specifications, cost estimates, bid documents (if necessary), analysis summaries, budget forecasting, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Adhere to client quality assurance requirement.
  • Mentor and oversee work of junior mechanical engineers. Review and approve proposed engineering designs to ensure requirements are properly captured.
  • Provide project management services to client by reviewing project scope, developing engineering solutions, facilitating drawing reviews, tracking cost and schedule, liaising with client throughout construction commissioning and start-up support.
  • Ensure project documentation and document management and lifecycle information requirements are being met.
  • Coordinate and participate in design meetings with clients to provide timely input on anticipated mechanical needs, including meetings with internal and external stakeholders to develop sustaining projects.
  • Develop, maintain and manage relationships with clients, industry leaders, architects, engineers, contractors, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of the product
  • Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency
  • Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required and be able to read and understand designs and schematics
  • P. Eng designation with Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) or Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) is required.
  • 4 to 12 years (end to end lifecycle) Mechanical Engineering experience in related field is required.
  • AutoCAD design experience. Must be able to coordinate drawing reviews, produce mark-ups and be able to perform field reviews.
  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and B31.4
  • Effective communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with others, and desire to mentor, lead and guide junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, time management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
