You will:


  • Design power generation, central utility plant, and thermal distribution projects from concept to completion
  • Assist clients improve resiliency, efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization of large and small scale utility and energy systems
  • Expand your skillset by learning from some of the most experienced Power engineers
  • Learn how to work outside the box with the Vanderweil approach
  • Perform technology and cycle selection for centralized utility generation systems
  • Develop heat and mass balances and piping & instrumentation diagrams
  • Oversee mechanical systems design including calculations, equipment selection, and piping and ductwork design for construction documents
  • Small team atmosphere while working with our multi-disciplinary team across the US.


Essential Skills and Background:


  • 10+ years of related background
  • 5+ years of direct industrial/power related consulting engineering experience
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience
  • PE license preferred, must be willing to pursue licensing if not current
  • Project engineering and/or lead engineer experience is a plus
  • Utility master planning, life cycle cost analysis, energy modeling, and hydraulic calculations
  • Mechanical equipment design, piping, codes, and application of standard engineering practices
  • Familiar with BIM and 3D design tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Revit

This position in Long Beach, CA has a salary range of $140,000 to $170,000 plus bonus eligible for a Senior Mechanical Engineer depending on years of experience, licensure, skill sets and education.
