Job Title: Owner's Representative - Mechanical Engineer

Location: Charleston, SC

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site


Position Overview:

EPC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as an Owner's Representative on a high-profile hyperscale campus. This role requires a strong field engineering background, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to overseeing the successful delivery of complex mechanical systems from design through commissioning.

The ideal candidate will be 100% dedicated to the project, working on-site five days a week , and serving as a trusted liaison between the owner, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the owner's interests across all project phases-from preconstruction to final commissioning.
  • Provide mechanical engineering oversight with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and critical systems infrastructure.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance and quality.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and track progress against scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate and communicate daily with GCs, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve technical and logistical issues.
  • Evaluate and manage RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation.
  • Ensure alignment with safety protocols, local codes, and industry standards.
  • Support system commissioning, testing, and turnover processes.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering support experience in construction or facilities projects.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on field engineering experience in mission-critical construction (data centers, labs, hospitals, etc.).
  • Strong construction background with deep understanding of mechanical systems and field implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and maintain project momentum under tight timelines.
