Job Summary
AUTEC Car Wash Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the continued growth and innovation of our automated car wash systems. This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for someone with strong mechanical design skills and a passion for practical problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze product specifications and performance requirements to design mechanical systems compatible with manufacturing capabilities
- Determine the feasibility of new designs or modifications, considering cost, space, materials, and production timelines
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and layout schematics
- Collaborate with operations to resolve design and production issues, ensuring manufacturability and efficiency
- Assign part numbers and maintain product data in SAP
- Create and update Bill of Materials (BOMs) and product costing in SAP
- Conduct and analyze tests to evaluate the performance and durability of components and systems
- Plan and execute experimental testing programs and apply results to product development
- Recommend and implement design modifications based on performance testing and feedback
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, production, and service to ensure design integrity
- Support customer-focused initiatives, including technical training materials and occasional field support
- Perform other engineering tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Associate degree with significant experience considered
- Experience: 2-4 years in mechanical design or product engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Familiarity with materials selection, GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes
- Experience designing weldments, sheet metal, machined parts, and assemblies
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion control
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP a plus) and engineering documentation best practices
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
