Electrical Engineer - LV Switchgear Design

Location: Henrico, VA

Experience: 6-8 years

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, including MCC, PCC panels, Databar/Busways, and Tap-off boxes.
• Create electrical control panel designs and wire harnesses using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Autodesk Vault.
• Perform engineering calculations for busbars, cables, and load capacities.
• Interpret and apply ANSI codes for electrical control and protection systems.
• Generate general arrangement (GA) drawings and control schematics to support production.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate design-to-production execution.
• Ensure integration of metering, relays, and protective devices in panel layouts.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6-8 years of industry experience in LV switchgear design and manufacturing.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Autodesk Vault.
• Solid understanding of electrical standards, including ANSI codes (preferred).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
