Job Description:

Position: Entrepreneurial-minded teammate responsible for the technical assessment, troubleshooting, implementation and optimization of currently running assets that purify and deliver hydrogen, to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for plant improvements and support day-to-day operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement plant improvements to reduce costs, minimize waste and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze operations and maintenance data, identifying trends and proposing solutions for continuous improvement or troubleshooting equipment when not functioning, with specific attention to hydrogen compressors.
  • Perform technical studies, statistical analysis and use data-driven decision-making to achieve operational excellence and meet production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements in all operations and engineering activities.
  • Train and mentor plant staff on equipment.
  • Design and implement plant optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time and improve product quality.
  • Lead improvement or remediation projects, from conception through execution, including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with other engineering, operations, and quality assurance teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), Management of Change (MOCs) and work instructions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years experience as a mechanical engineer in plant operations or other field environment
  • 7+ years experience with process gas compression
  • Experience with hydrogen strongly desired
  • Proficient in providing technical support to plant operators and technicians
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues
  • Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid environment, with in-person support to Petersburg, VA when needed for troubleshooting, plant start up or as otherwise required (expected weekly).
