Overview:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project's electrical engineering aspects are met.
This position is for a Senior Electrical Engineer, located in Ogden, UT, who will prepare designs for electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
- Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides.
- Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs)
- Develop new design drawings using Autocad such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more.
- Perform power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP. Calculations will include Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Relay Coordination, Arc Flash.
- Other facility calculations include, lighting design using AGI 32, facility ground grid sizing utilizing ETAP, and underground cable thermal de-rating analysis utilizing ETAP
- Perform equipment sizing calculations such as medium voltage utility and low voltage transformers, panel boards, surge protective devices, uninterruptable power supplies and battery sizing calculations
- Perform circuit breaker and cable sizing calculations per NFPA 70 to include various de-rating factors.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering
- PE License
- 10-15+ years of relevant work experience in drawings, calculations, and specifications for Electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building Electrical systems.
- Understanding of Mechanical and Process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to electrical design requirements.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
- Experience executing engineering design with Smartplant 3D.
- Experience performing calculations with ETAP.
- Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
- Secret clearance is preferred but not required.
