Senior Mechanical Engineer
We have a great opportunity available with a fast growing company who operates in industries including Architecture, Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, among others. They're in need of an Engineer who will play a pivotal role in establishing and growing the mechanical engineering design department within the firm. This individual will be deeply involved in hands-on design work.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Design Work
Lead and participate in the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and sustainable energy systems, using both hands-on design and management.
Oversee and execute design work for complex projects, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to client specifications.
Manage the delivery of high-quality mechanical designs from concept to completion.
Client Acquisition
Develop strong relationships with government agencies, property developers, commercial clients, and more.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and delivering solutions aligned with their needs.
Project Management and Delivery
Oversee all aspects of mechanical engineering projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting.
Ensure designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Lead project teams, ensuring coordination with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to meet deadlines and budgets.
Department Development and Leadership
Establish and lead the mechanical engineering design department, defining processes, standards, and building a strong team.
Recruit, mentor, and manage mechanical engineers and technical staff to ensure high performance and development.
Develop and implement best practices, design standards, and workflows for the mechanical engineering department.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure the delivery of integrated solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta is required.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the US is a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering design.
Proven ability to acquire new clients and bring projects in the door.
Hands-on experience in mechanical design work, not just management.
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
Strong understanding of local building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in Calgary and Alberta.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record in business development and managing client relationships.
