Senior Electrical Engineer - Defense Projects (Levels I-III)
Location: Ogden, UT (100% Onsite - No Telework)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required
Clearance: Secret clearance preferred, but not required
Pay Range: $70 - $105/hr W2 (based on experience level)
Per Diem + Mobilization: Available for candidates living 50+ miles from the site
Overview:
We're looking for experienced Senior Electrical Engineers to support a major U.S. Air Force program focused on modernizing ICBM systems. This work includes design and engineering of launch systems and related infrastructure, part of a long-term national defense effort. You'll be joining a multi-disciplinary team tackling complex, high-impact government projects-helping modernize critical infrastructure for the 21st century.
What You'll Do:
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:
- Lead or contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for large-scale defense and infrastructure projects.
- Perform field investigations and work directly with clients to define scope and cost estimates.
- Create or review design packages including single line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, grounding systems, and lighting protection.
- Run power system modeling using ETAP (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, motor starting, etc.).
- Perform lighting designs using AGI32, cable thermal analysis, and grounding grid sizing.
- Complete equipment sizing and load calculations for UPS, transformers, panelboards, etc.
- Develop material and equipment specs using SpecsIntact and prepare procurement documentation.
- Review supplier submittals and integrate vendor information into system designs.
- Support and mentor junior engineers while working cross-functionally with other disciplines.
- Coordinate requirements and verifications with systems engineering teams and the client.
Who You Are:
We're hiring across three levels of experience:
Level I (70-80/hr):
- 5-8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and ETAP
- Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) for circuit protection and cable sizing
Level II (80-90/hr):
- 8-10 years of experience
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience leading portions of projects and mentoring junior engineers
- Familiar with industry standards including UFC and WBDG
Level III (90-100/hr):
- 10+ years of experience
- MS in Electrical Engineering preferred
- PE license highly preferred
- Prior work on DOD, DOE, or other federal agency projects
- Experience with SmartPlant 3D and deep familiarity with QA programs (ISO-9000, etc.)
Minimum Requirements for All Levels:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (required for clearance)
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working onsite full-time in a secure environment
