About the Opportunity
My client, a globally recognized engineering and consulting firm with a 100+ year legacy, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support its rapidly growing Data Centers division. In this highly visible role, you'll provide technical leadership across multi-million-dollar design-build and design-only projects while mentoring a team and working closely with some of the most prominent names in the data center industry.
This is a hybrid opportunity, offering a flexible work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote), and can be based out of any U.S. regional office.
What You'll Do
Lead the electrical design efforts for mission-critical data center projects across North America.
Provide subject matter expertise on power distribution systems, redundancy, and resiliency standards in hyperscale, edge, and colocation environments.
Manage and guide project teams through complex technical challenges using tools like Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, and Navisworks.
Coordinate with local utilities, clients, internal disciplines, and external partners throughout project lifecycles.
Oversee production of technical deliverables, including calculations, layouts, and system studies.
Participate in business development and proposal efforts, including scope creation, LOE estimates, and site visits.
Mentor junior engineers and designers, contributing to a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on mission-critical/data center environments.
Strong understanding of tier rating systems, resiliency design, and code compliance.
Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM software for electrical modeling and documentation.
Skilled at managing multiple priorities and delivering results in high-paced project environments.
Excellent communication skills with a client-focused, solutions-driven mindset.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience working directly with hyperscale or colocation providers.
Knowledge of Uptime Institute certification requirements.
Experience developing and managing custom families and complex parameters in Revit.
Proven leadership in training and mentoring junior staff.
Familiarity with data center commissioning, procurement processes, and field coordination.
