About the Role:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads mechanical engineering and design of buildings systems. Including planning, design, execution, and completion of projects for clients. Mechanical engineering designs will include design, tendering and contract administration of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, boilers, and chillers at new and existing facilities. Buildings can include commercial and institutional.
Salary: $120 000 to $140 000

Here's what you'll be doing:
- Leading design and development of mechanical systems for building projects while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Site assessment and reviews to verify the performance and functionality of mechanical systems.
- Providing technical oversight to project teams, contractors, and clients, and actively participating in project planning and coordination efforts.
- Oversee preparation of engineering calculations, reports and staying updated with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and best practices.
- Coordinate with architectural team and other engineering disciplines, and actively participate in project planning and budgeting.
- Design and engineer building-related systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, boilers, and chillers.
- Take responsibility for the production of construction documents and construction administration for projects, and review and approve technical documentation.
- Conduct quality assurance checks, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Manage client relationships including fee proposals, issues resolution, coordination, and project management.
Here's what you'll need:
- 10-20+ years relevant working experience in mechanical building systems engineering.
- Professional Engineering license with PEO (P.Eng).
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in engineering with Mechanical Engineering focus.
- Commercial and Institutional building systems design experience is required.
- Demonstrate communication skills for effective internal and client interactions.
- Critical to have excellent project experience with the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, and ASHRAE standards - accrued over many years working on local projects in the Toronto area or across Canada.
