Job Title: Electrical Engineer Intern - Part time

Company: TRAK Machine Tools

Location: Compton, California

Job Description: TRAK Machine Tools is seeking a driven Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience in the design, development, and integration of electrical systems for advanced CNC Machines. The intern will support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers, contributing to various stages of product development, and learning about industrial controls, power distribution, and automation in a manufacturing environment.

What you will be Doing:

  • Assist Electrical Engineers in the design and documentation of electrical control panels, wiring diagrams, and schematics for CNC machines.
  • Support the selection and integration of electrical components such as PLCs, motor drives, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Help create and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical sub-assemblies and complete systems.
  • Participate in the Engineering Change Request (ECR/ECN) process by updating electrical schematics, diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Assist with the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control systems and machine prototypes.
  • Support troubleshooting and debugging of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Learn about industrial control standards and best practices in machine tool electrical design.
  • Contribute to electrical system prototyping and validation activities.

Qualifications:

  • Familiar electrical schematic and ladder diagrams
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Basic understanding or academic experience with electrical circuit design, control systems, or industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical) or general circuit design tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about PLCs, motion control, and sensor technologies.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Eager to learn, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


Compensation details: 18-20 Hourly Wage
