Job DescriptionJob Description

Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrications, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the activities of assigned new product development projects.
  • Design, recommend, and advise on manufacturing tools, fixtures, and fabrication equipment including repair and build
  • Design for stamping dies, locating fixtures, and machining fixtures
  • Provide trouble shooting of metal forming operations, including spinning, laser, hydroforming, and welding
  • Maintain certifications by contributing to audits and audit preparation (NADCAP, AS9100, etc)
  • Create and maintain inspection drawings of parts
  • Create and maintain Process Inspection Records (PIRs)
  • Develop manufacturing processes and improvements and create detailed work instructions to document standard processes
  • Assure product quality by developing robust processes, inspection methods, and tooling
  • Contribute to quoting of new work through analyzing previous performance and developing process workflows
  • Launch new programs and assist with tooling, equipment, and inspection trials and improvements
  • Ability to lift required objects with or without assistance, turn, load/unload required objects
  • Demonstrate safe work habits
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner
  • Maintain current, overall, and job specific trainings and requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Safe Practice Guidelines / Required Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses with side shields as required
  • Steel toed/metatarsal safety shoes as required
  • Gloves as required
  • Earplugs as required
  • Welding hood, jacket, face shield, and/or gloves as required
  • Fire Retardant (FR) clothing as required
  • N-95 mask, or respirator as required
  • Seat belts required on all forklifts

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Detail Oriented
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of design software (Inventor, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Manage time with little to no supervision, self-motivated
  • AS9100 Quality compliance, understanding, and commitment
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience
  • Project / program management experience
