The Capital Plan Management Department is responsible for developing and implementing the Five-Year Capital Plan which outlines priorities for constructing new school facilities as well as upgrading our existing buildings. The Fiscal Year Five-Year Capital Plan totals $21 billion and encompasses efforts in four categories: Capacity, Healthy Schools, Capital Investment, and Mandated Programs. Through the execution of the Five-Year Capital Plan, the department plays a key role in shaping and defining the projects that will meet the complex and vital needs of our evolving school system.
Job Description Responsibilities include:
- Guide interdisciplinary teams assigned to projects.
- Perform technical review of scope reports to ensure work adherence to the project schedule, budget, codes, and/or SCA standards.
- Coordinate architectural and engineering design activities related to the new project in the scope & design phases.
- Help brainstorm and strategize the needs and priorities of updates to mechanical systems for both short and long-term timeframe
- Participate in day-to-day operations to address and resolve specific managerial, operational, and administrative problems and inquiries.
- Perform managerial functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, making decisions about design-related services and materials, and/or making recommendations regarding personnel selection.
- Participate in meetings on issues relating to departmental and interdepartmental functions of the department/unit.
- Perform related duties, as assigned.
Preferred Skills and Education:
- NYS Professional Engineer License
- Eight years of mechanical engineering experience post license, four years of leadership experience required

Salary Range: $105,159 - $160,000

Work Experience Eight years of full time progressive experience as a Professional Engineer; four years must have been as a project leader, project engineer or major project contributor or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
