Overview The NPD Team is looking for a dynamic, creative, talented, inspirational, and committed Senior Mechanical Engineer to deliver an extraordinary pipeline of new technologies. We seek a creative problem solver with an intuitive grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals, comfortable hacking together a prototype in the lab or analyzing test results, and passionate about solving tough challenges required to be the first to deliver innovative new products to market. This role calls for an experienced hands?on engineer with natural curiosity, creativity, a passion to develop and utilize a diversity of talents, and a desire to help make a high?performing team even stronger.

Exciting Things Youll Get to Do Design and develop consumer products from initial concept to ongoing product support within our global development organization. Collaborate daily with Engineering and Product Development teams to quickly progress understanding of systems, performance levers, and trade?offs. Bring together team members from other disciplines to brainstorm, solve problems, build proof?of?concept prototypes, and test them thoroughly. Work closely with and guide a team of mechanical engineers, including co?ops and interns. See the culmination of your efforts with the team come to life on the shelf, online, and in infomercials.

Attributes and Skills

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of related experience in design and development
  • Demonstrated ability to bring enabling technologies into innovative products in the market
  • Solid analytical skills, methodical mindset, strong attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for resolution
  • Skilled in prototyping: 3D printing, machining, hand tools, building accurate and robust assemblies
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting with various test equipment and instrumentation conducting controlled experiments
  • Proficient CAD user, SolidWorks or CREO
  • Organized, skilled using Excel, Minitab, or MATLAB (or similar programs) to synthesize test data into learnings
  • Skilled communicator able to explain working principles, synthesize data into learnings and impact to design choices, and make recommendations to both technical and non?technical colleagues
  • Enjoys fostering meaningful professional relationships with colleagues
  • In?person role at our Needham, MA office

Preferred Attributes

  • Understanding of thermal dynamics
  • Experience in product design and development including designing and executing an experimental test plan to guide design decisions
  • Comfortable multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer?term projects and goals
  • Previous experience in an applied engineering role working for a consumer product company or a consultant company
  • Experience with electronics (analog/digital), related test equipment, and components common in small appliances (sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs, etc.)
