Hiring Mechanical Engineers (Must Have skillset: Mechanical/Mechanical Design Engineer, P.Eng (PEO), Nuclear Power Plant experience, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Engineering Change Control (ECC), and OPG/BP Security Clearance). Requirement Summary

  • Job Role/Title: Mechanical Engineer
  • Job Type: Long-Term Contract Opportunity. Initial contract of 12 months with good possibilities of extensions.
  • Job Location: Pickering, Ontario - L1W 3J2, Canada.
  • Work Style: On-site Work setting


NOTE: The successful personnel need to have an active OPG / Bruce Power Security Clearance or be eligible for the OPG/BP Security Clearance.


Position Overview, Responsibilities & Deliverables:

  • Is responsible for the planning, designing, composing, evaluating, advising, or reporting on any activity that requires the application of engineering principles.
  • Maintains instructions and procedures up to date, prepares reports, and reviews proposals from external organizations.
  • Participates in training programs as required.
  • Specific Accountabilities
  • Prepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids, and technical submissions
  • Perform any required inspections as necessary for the procurement of material.
  • Responsible for the specification sizing of equipment and the interconnection to ensure satisfactory process performance
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
  • Guides junior engineers and technical staff assigned to a common task
  • Datasheet/Technical specification of process equipment
  • Support for the general arrangement of the process
  • Validation of subcontractors' documents
  • Start-up notes and O&M manuals
  • Uses initiative and judgement in resolving problems, interprets engineering specifications, obtains and analyzes data, and designs
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and associates for the purpose of discussing design problems, explaining design features and specifications, and other project control criteria
  • Solve problems by the use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments
  • Conducts independent studies and analysis, making interpretations and typical decisions


Required Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications

  • Working experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an EPC environment, particularly on nuclear, power, or utilities projects, or those related to Bruce Power, is considered an asset.
  • University graduate in a related discipline (Mechanical Engineering)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario
  • 5+ years of related working experience in a design consulting environment
  • Must be capable of using flow analysis and pipe stress analysis software
  • Working experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an EPC environment, working on Nuclear, Power Plant, Utilities, or Bruce Power projects is considered an asset.
  • Specific knowledge in piping, and specifically alloyed piping in terms of definition, specification, calculation, sourcing, prefabrication, and assembly, will be considered an asset.
