Overview / Responsibilities:
AGP Mining Consultants Inc. (AGP) consists of a group of experienced professionals specializing in mining project engineering studies and operational support. Our key areas of competence include geological modeling, mine engineering, metallurgical engineering, infrastructure, geotechnical engineering, economic evaluation, and overall project management.
Our clients benefit from this experienced team of geologists, underground and open-pit mining engineers, and processing professionals due to our broad range of operations and consulting experience and skills. AGP's team can lead mining projects in geology, mining engineering, processing/metallurgy, financials, and overall project management/execution. We are also well suited for performing due diligence audits. In many instances, AGP has acted as the client representative in negotiations for equipment purchasing or other discussions as a result of our depth of operating experience, and relationships with equipment suppliers. This collaboration with the client has been positively received.
AGP currently has an opportunity for a Principal Underground Mining Engineer with the location of this position being flexible for the right candidate. This role has responsibility for underground mine designs, scheduling, reserve estimates, and assistance with the preparation of technical reports for various complex projects globally. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing technical oversight and engagement in mining studies (Scoping, Pre-feasibility & Feasibility)
- Conduct mine asset due diligence and evaluations
- Lead mine design planning, scheduling, and project optimization using Deswik 3D planning and scheduling software
- Writing assistance with, and review of, technical engineering reports (43-101 or equivalent)
- Support mining engineers on, or lead yourself, projects requiring technical solutions working with our client partners
- Oversight of technical quality, and delivery of projects including design and review according to client-approved scopes of work
- Be a champion for practical mining solutions for projects and operations, providing our clients with options for sometimes challenging situations
- Actively leverage and advocate for industry-leading technology and support implementation engagements (collaboration with our partner groups)
- Manage contractors and sub-consultants on projects (as required)
Skills/Qualifications:
- 8+ years of mining-technical experience
- Minimum 5 years of operational mining experience required
- Proficiency in Deswik or other underground planning software is required
- Desire to lead business development activities
- Strong technical skills and experience
- Excellent workplace safety practices (advocate for global best practices)
- Practically minded and a passion for technical excellence
- Good communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Superior time management, planning, and ability to interact with clients
- A willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and at times to remote locations
- Fluent and effective spoken and written English. Spanish would be advantageous but not a requirement.
- Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from AGP is required.
