Overview:
Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Electrical Engineer or Project Manager to expand our Electrical practice in Long Beach, California (CA)!
Medium voltage (2.4kV - 35kV) infrastructure design for federal or port facilities, including specification of associated switchgear, transformers, and other related medium voltage equipment. Experience with underground distribution system design, shore power design, and related calculations. Specification and coordination of protective relaying and SCADA systems for medium voltage electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Design Engineering
Perform field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports
Prepare electrical schematic designs
Project Management
Lead the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, transportation, aviation, and industrial projects
Responsible for the development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics and block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams
Daily interaction and collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams, with interaction across Kimley-Horn offices
Prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals, supporting the growth of electrical engineering service areas in the local market and across the country
Expected to assist in mentoring, training, and growing a team to expand our electrical engineering practice
Demonstrate ability to manage multiple large-size projects involving other senior engineers and sub-consultants
Provide mentorship to design engineers
Prepare proposals independently for clients
Demonstrate active development of business with new and existing clients
Construction Administration
Review and respond to RFI's
Review equipment submittals
Perform punch walks and prepare punch list report
Qualifications:
4+ years' experience in an Electrical Engineering role
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months) is required.
Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards
Understanding of the California Energy Code
Understanding of Unified Facilities Criteria
Federal (NAVFAC) or Ports experience preferred
Able to work on electrical infrastructure design projects with minimal supervision
Proficiency using AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Microstation
Possess strong record-keeping and organizational skills
Salary Range:
$110,000 to 160,000
