We are seeking outstanding electrical engineers with a passion for improving people's lives by delivering advanced medical devices. You will be responsible for designing, testing and maintaining electronics for cutting edge medical devices. You will work with experts from biology, microfabrication, optics, and software in developing novel devices - clear communication and an eagerness and aptitude to understand implications of electronics design choices on those domains and vice versa is essential.

Role responsibilities:
  • Architect, design and characterize electrical systems, generally at the PCB level, for advanced medical device applications
  • Electronic device bring-up and characterization
  • Test and qualification of electronic hardware especially PCB-As
  • Feasibility investigation and prototype of new concepts
  • Clear documentation and communication of design and test work
  • Interface and communication with cross-disciplinary teams including microfabrication, software, IC design, and biology
Required qualifications:
  • Experience in electronic system design using cutting edge FPGAs, CPUs, SoCs
  • Skilled in high quality PCB design using industry standard tools such as Altium, OrCAD etc
  • Strong understanding of power management in battery powered systems
  • Familiarity with high speed communication protocols (PCIe, MIPI, USB, etc)
  • Experience in power and size constrained system design
  • Skilled in low noise analog sensor interface design
  • Adept in modeling signal integrity, parasitic loading and crosstalk for sensing applications
  • Experience with wireless system design and RF PCB design
  • Adept using tools for electronic system characterization including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers etc.
  • Experience designing hardware test systems and interfacing test equipment
  • Strong circuit analysis and simulation skills
  • Experience of at least one full product life cycle from development to market
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field, at least 4 years experience
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with camera and optical systems
  • Familiarity with mobile SoCs and sensors
  • Experience with design for supply chain
  • Familiarity with product life cycle management, including product data management
  • Understanding of firmware development and in particular an ability to factor firmware development into part selection
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 - $200,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
