GPI seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Metro DC branch in Rockville, MD, or Fairfax, VA office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow and direct a project team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead project work on concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of labor, technical calculations, permit applications, schematics, construction, and regulatory/technical memos.
  2. Manage the technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design issues.
  3. Be hands-on with projects from inception to completion in managing mechanical design and construction of building and infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, new builds, design specifications, and phasing.
  4. Utilize engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various building projects, including concept development, preliminary design, final design, and/or construction.
  5. Direct interaction with regulatory agencies, sub-contractors, and clients professionally.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  2. 13+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  3. Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is required.
  4. Solid understanding of building design and codes.
  5. Strong leadership skills to meet deadlines and manage contract work with minimal direction.
  6. Ability to travel to project sites within the region.

Requirements:

  1. Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
  2. Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language.
  3. Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails, and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members.
  4. Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'.
  5. Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher.
  6. Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working.
