ML6 is thrilled to be supporting one of our favourite clients, a medium sized multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm with a strong market reputation, in their search for a skilled Mechanical Engineer - Buildings, to work out of their London or Kitchener offices.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Participate in redline meetings with Design Leads and Project Leads to develop conceptual designs, identify potential issues, and review relevant codes.
  • Prepare, assist, and/or review design briefs, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Assist in reviewing and comparing equipment design costs, providing insights to inform project decisions.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the project team, offering guidance on engineering issues and design challenges.
  • Conduct engineering reviews to ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards, ensuring accuracy and adequacy. Seal your own work as well as work prepared by other team members.
  • Monitor project progress by setting milestones, performing reviews, and ensuring that engineering reviews are completed to maintain timelines and budgets. Provide regular updates to the project team.
  • Develop and/or review alternative solutions to design challenges and assist with addressing permit comments through formal letters.
  • Assist the Project Lead in the transition of projects to the Construction Services team by reviewing project verification requirements and critical items lists. Provide support for site reviews and offer construction assistance as needed.
  • Review Site Reports completed by Construction Services for observations, deficiencies, and occupancy items, providing feedback. Perform final site visits to ensure systems are installed and operating according to specifications and drawings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, manufacturers, and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Offer mentorship, guidance, and training to junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
  • Assist the mechanical engineering team in continuously updating and improving design standards to reflect best practices.


What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent is required.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, specifically related to HVAC & Plumbing construction industry or equivalent required.
  • Substantial knowledge of pertinent codes and standards (O.B.C., CSA Standards, ASHRAE etc.).
  • Experience in the design of mechanical systems commonly used in multi-unit residential buildings, or similar, is required.
  • Experience in private sector works, specifically working with private sector developers is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suites
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Capable of working on and/or leading several projects at the same time and with the projects in different stages
  • Ability to mentor and train staff in a team environment
