Process Engineers provide common standard methodology for propagating Engineering requirements to product design activities, link product development to production capabilities, provide standard documentation for material performance characteristics and selection criteria, and provide support for the proposed solution throughout the product life cycle. Will work to improve processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability.

What You Will Do

  • Quickly address production issues related to materials and processes, ensure root causes of issues are understood, and solutions are robust and cost effective.
  • Provide on the job training for materials and processes. Train other engineers on material usage and processes.
  • Actively participates in daily production meetings.
  • Collaborate with Factory personnel. Engage with Factory to understand material and process issues.
  • Notify the Materials Management Team of any potential materials obsolescence or supply chain interruptions.
  • Operations liaison working with Materials & Process Engineering (M&PE) to quickly address problem buys and obsolete materials: Identify impacted RMS end users, determine material requirements, find alternatives (drive testing as needed), ensure new materials will work in existing processes, and use the opportunity to drive to common materials.
  • Complete supplier process assessment activities as a technical leader.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean manufacturing techniques to reduce variability, eliminate constraints, and provide ongoing process sustainment
  • Determine if suppliers have robust, measurable processes, ensure suppliers are following all specifications, and proper controls are in place.
  • Validate Suppliers have the appropriate qualifications and lot testing is being performed and the correct process variables are being measured.
  • Drive use of common materials based on allowable requirements from the drawing
  • Author of Manufacturing Procedures/Documents
  • Support/Lead process troubleshooting efforts to quickly and efficiently resolve manufacturing process issues. Coordinate with M&PE Labs to do root Cause Corrective Action as required.
  • Represent Process Engineering on area committees.
  • Subject matter expert in a material or process discipline.
  • This will be an onsite role in our Tucson, AZ facility.

Qualification Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another STEM Degree
  • Experience with project execution
  • Experience with manufacturing/production processes
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
