New Permanent Role Sr Process Engineer - Leaching Technology Specialist
NES Fircroft is actively seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer for a permanent role with our minerals processing client at their facilities in Spruce Pine, North Carolina! This Process Engineering position will deal specifically with our client's Industrial Leaching processes, bridging the gap between R&D and Industrial Processing, and will be responsible for design new innovative processes to improve efficiency, safety, sustainability, and cost efficiency.

Position Summary
As a Process Engineer in our client's engineering organization, you will be expected to utilize your skills to analyze, optimize and deliver engineering solutions to the business for both capital projects and operational improvements. The Process Engineer will be responsible for the development and approval of process design and specifications. They will be able to work independently on complex problems and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines when necessary. Reporting to the relevant Engineering Department Manager the engineer will be responsible for the organization of their own tasks to meet project deadlines. The engineers work may have high levels of ambiguity and determining solutions will require working with unknowns.
The engineers target focus will be in leaching technology and application with a focus on the technical knowledge of these processes.
Responsibilities
Safety -
Apply process safety techniques to all engineering to ensure safety in design.
Maintain and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
Provide Safety Leadership by participating in engineering team meetings and actively identifying any concerns in the field.
Process Engineering & Design -
Design new, innovative processes and adapt existing ones to improve efficiency, safety, sustainability and cost efficiency.
Develop technical documentation in some cases bridging the technology gap between R&D into industrial processing.
Manage complex ambiguity in design to drive solutions forward and find novel solutions.
Develop and competently assess documentation including block flow diagrams /P&ID, control philosophy and other process engineering documents.
Project Management -
Coordination between the construction team and other functions; engineering, sourcing/contracting, project controls and risk management including coordination of commissioning and handover activities into operations.
Be accountable for project risk management to ensure that project risks are identified, assessed, prioritized and mitigated.
Support the evaluation of technical and economic feasibility of projects.
Analytics and Continuous Improvement -
Assess and provide solutions regarding both project-based optimization and operational optimization.
Participate in project reviews to implement lessons learned in ongoing and future phases/projects.
Assist in troubleshooting problems and engage in Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Analysis techniques.

Qualifications
A minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in science or chemical engineering, further education as PhD or masters is highly favourable.
Industry experience minimum of 10 years with exposure to industrial leaching processes.
Exposure in small to medium sized project engineering designs or improvement programs of various complexity levels.
Site based design/operating engineering experience would be favourable.
