Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Mechanical Engineer
with experience in
plant design and industrial systems
to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for the design, specification, and integration of mechanical systems and equipment across a variety of facility projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in mechanical engineering, a strong background in plant layout and process flow, and the ability to lead and support cross-functional teams from concept through construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the mechanical engineering design and layout of plant systems, including piping, HVAC, material handling, utilities, and process equipment
Develop and review engineering documentation, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, general arrangement drawings (GAs), and 3D models
Perform equipment sizing, selection, and specification for pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, NFPA, OSHA, etc.)
Collaborate with process engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution
Manage vendor relationships and review mechanical packages and submittals
Support the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and material takeoffs
Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and constructability assessments
Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases
Mentor junior engineers and support cross-discipline coordination
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required); PE license preferred
8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with a strong focus on plant or facility design
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD tools; familiarity with 3D modeling (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Navisworks) a plus
Strong knowledge of piping systems, HVAC, rotating equipment, and mechanical design best practices
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Experience with project execution in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or energy sectors
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams for OEM's or in EPC environments
Knowledge of sustainability and energy-efficient design practices
Familiarity with facility maintenance practices or reliability engineering
